9021-Low Blow: Candy Spelling Disses Granddaughter’s First Birthday Party

Despite having an entire room devoted to gift-wrapping and complaining in many interviews that she’s never met her granddaughter, Candy Spelling bailed on Stella’s first birthday party after accepting estranged daughter Tori’s olive branch/invitation.

Hey!  I’m sure Candy was very busy… reflecting on what an awesome first name she has.

Sources add that Candy’s camp even called in advance and asked if camera crews for Tori’s Oxygen show would be present.  Tori assured them she would be respectful of her mother’s wishes if she didn’t want to be filmed.

“She still chose not to come,” says a source.  “She waited until one hour before the event to notify Tori, by email, that she wasn’t attending.  Tori was busy preparing and didn’t get the e-mail until after the party.  She was waiting for her mom the whole time.”

In the words of the ever-so-wise Stephanie Tanner, how rude!  No word, however, on when Tori changed her name to “a source.”

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
