Robert Downey Jr. and Wife Welcome Baby Boy Named…

Well, when we’re talking about the son of Robert Downey Jr., you know the kid’s name isn’t going to be Dave or Steve.

Let’s give a big, warm welcome to baby boy EXTON Elias Downey, who arrived healthily (but probably not happily… Hey!  I was cozy in there!) this morning in Los Angeles.

Exton weighs 7 lbs., 5 oz., is 20 inches long and joins big brother Indio, 18, Robert’s son from his previous marriage.

Hopefully Robert is taking care of his baby mama and changing diapers like a mad man, because he was in the dog house for revealing the sex of the baby on national television months ago — something his producer wife Susan good-naturedly admitted wasn’t exactly in the plans.

Thankfully, Robert knew to keep his mouth shut about their name choice.

“If I told you the name, then she would lop off my head with a machete,” (half-)joked Robert.

Exton.  I can’t even look at the name without hearing it shouted by a train conductor in my head — “Next stop:  EX-TON!” — because it was one of the many stops on my train ride from Manhattan to visit family in Harrisburg back when I lived in New York City.  I envision the birth announcement to be:

Awwww…precious!  Congrats on the arrival of EX-TON!, Downey clan.

Because sharing is caring, as I tell my kids. (Except my wine. Never my wine.)
