R.I.P. Mr. C

Not-so-happy days:  Tom Bosley, who played one of the most famous television fathers ever, Howard Cunningham (aka “Mr. C”), on the hit ’70s sitcom Happy Days, died today at his home in Palm Springs.  According to family, Bosley had been battling a staph infection and died of heart failure.  He was 83.

Bosley is survived by his second wife, Patricia Carr, a daughter, Amy, and a bunch of former castmates with nothing but glowing things to say about him, as well as Mr. C’s stylish Grand Poobah hat, his grudging respect for The Fonz and memorable lines such as, Why can’t you be a normal boy and swallow goldfish?

All parents have wondered that at one point or another.

R.I.P. Mr. C.

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
