Father of the Week So Far: Man “Jokingly” Tries to Sell Kids on Craigslist

A 24-year-old man in Brockton, NY with a FABULOUS sense of humor listed his two sons for sale — with an accompanying picture — on Craigslist, and is shocked, just SHOCKED, that he has been arrested for doing so.

Seriously.  Can’t people take a JOKE anymore?

Joshua Stagnitto says he was just trying to get a few laughs by trying to sell his one- and two-year-old boys, with the ad noting that the kids could be used as “child slaves and footstools,” and that they come with a 12-pack of diapers and one dirty t-shirt.  He even listed a “special pricing” for the boys: $40 dollars for one, $200 for both.

Well, that’s just bad marketing.  EVERYBODY knows the combined deal should be less per child/product.  So, say, $100 for one, $150 for both.  (Now we know where he went wrong.  Jeesh.  Child Sales Promotion 101.)

Despite the obvious hilarity of the ad, police were not amused.

“Just when you think you’ve seen it all in law enforcement, something new comes out,” says Trooper Mark O’Donnell, of the New York State Police. “If you go on Craigslist, you see pictures of skis and snowmobiles, and cars, just about everything for sale.  Now, we’ve seen a two-year-old and a one-year-old.”

Stagnitto was arrested for falsely reporting an incident, which is a misdemeanor.

The Laughing Stork’s suggested punishment:  a vasectomy.
