Katherine Heigl Adopts Girl, Imparts Pregnancy Wisdom

Katherine Heigl isn’t letting Grey’s co-star Ellen Pompeo be the only new mommy on-set — she and her husband Josh Kelley are adopting a baby, reports Us Weekly.

Apparently, she will formally announce she’s adopting a baby girl from Korea, where her sister Meg was also adopted, on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday.  (Sidebar:  Did you hear Ellen is replacing Paula on American Idol?  Like, as her permanent replacement?  So random!  I could see Ellen as a judge on America’s Next Top Dancing Comedienne, but on a SINGING show?  Um, okay.)

Any-hoo…

After a six-month process, Katherine and Josh are adopting a 10-month-old named Nayleigh.  Katherine has often said in interviews that she “always planned” to adopt.

“I’m done with the whole idea of having my own children,” Katherine told USA Today. “[It] doesn’t seem like any fun.  I don’t think it’s necessary to go through all of that.”

Ah, that Katherine sure does have a way with words, doesn’t she?  “Screw stretchmarks!  I’m gonna adopt me a kid!”  *SNIFF*  *SNIFF*  A beautiful sentiment.
