Humiliating Pet Portraits: Hello Kitty, Er… Doggie

The pet adoption process can be downright exhausting.   Screening may include home visits, interviews and “lifestyle surveys” asking questions such as how much time you spend at home, whether you have other pets, how you calculate the square root of pi times 10 to the power of 4, and whether you are Team Jen or Team Angelina.

And that’s just to get a goldfish.

Yet, some people with questionable pet parenting skills STILL manage to slip through the system.  Such as the parents of this poor dog:

Hello Kitty costumes are generally grounds for animal cruelty arrest in this country; however, this poor dog looks so darn happy in his Hello Kitty bonnet, the parents were let off with a mere warning and citation from the Animal Fashion Police.

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
