Jessica Simpson Confirms She is Going to Be a “Mummy”

In news that surprised, well, nobody, Jessica Simpson has confirmed that she is, indeed, pregnant.

Papa Simpson was unable to negotiate big bucks for the news, apparently, so Jessica announced it via — where else? — Twitter, writing: “!!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!!” on Monday, tweeting a link to her Web site, where she confirmed the news with the post, “It’s True!  I am going to be a mummy,” accompanied by a picture of herself wrapped in white bedazzled cloth holding her baby bump.

Cute.  I also appreciate that she’s sporting the kind of hair that most new moms have the first year after having a child.

This is the first child for Jessica and her fiance Eric Johnson, who occupies the same space in my mind as Kris Humphries.  The couple got engaged last November.

Congrats to Mummy Simpson and Pops Johnson!
