Candy’s Awkward Family Photoblog: The Post-Scolding Pout

Once in a lifetime comes a parenting blog with photographs so touching, it makes your ovaries ache.  This is not that blog.

The family kindly took me out for a birthday brunch, complete with stacks of blueberry pancakes, a table next to a dancing water fountain and a toddler who insisted on pulling the paper table cloth.  Hard.  After the third time of patiently asking her to refrain from pulling the entire contents of our table on the ground, I finally scolded her, “Skylar.  STOP IT!”  in my “I mean business” tone of voice.

Thirty seconds later, Mr. Candy snapped this picture of us:

There it is:  the post-scolding pout.  Notice my firm grip on her arms.  My smile might say, “What a beautiful morning with the family!” but my hands say, “I know better than to trust this loose cannon.”

Because sharing is caring, as I tell my kids. (Except my wine. Never my wine.)
