Mariah Carey — Surprise! — Confirms She’s Having a Baby

In today’s Captain Obvious report, Mariah Carey has confirmed that she is, indeed, pregnant.

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Mariah, 41, told Billy Bush as part of a three-part Access Hollywood interview. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”

How surprisingly magnanimous of her to say “we.”  When I was pregnant, I did not miss an opportunity to inform Mr. Candy that WE may be having a baby, but I was the pregnant one.  Having witnessed my four long months of “morning” sickness and inability to walk without bumping into a wall, he was more than happy to let me have that “honor.”

Nick Cannon, 30, joined the interview to talk about the “absolutely emotional” news, adding, “The greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Mariah, who also told of a miscarriage two years ago, would not reveal her due date. She would only say “it’s still early” and that the baby would arrive in the spring.  (Be sure to check out her interview, by the way, where she makes a big deal out of not being able to get comfortable on the sofa because she is about FOUR MONTHS PREGNANT.  Ha, haaaaaa!  Poor Nick has a looooooooong road ahead of him.)

The Hello Kitty fanatic has no doubt already reserved a VIP room in this hospital’s maternity ward:

Fun!  Congrats, you crazy kids.

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
