We Knew It Would Happen Sooner or Later: Talking Babies Taking Over Hollywood

If there’s one thing that creeps me out even more than old men in Speedos (why, God, why?!), it’s talking babies.  So it goes without saying how THRILLED I am that not just one, but two talking baby movies are rumored to be under way.

Great.  Next thing you know, an “Elderly Dudes Gone Wild!” video franchise will be released.

Not only is 20th Century Fox reportedly planning a movie based on the E*Trade talking babies commercials (did they get Lindsay Lohan’s permission?), but someone has also greenlit a remake of “Look Who’s Talking.”  Originality, thy name is Hollywood.

“Parks and Recreation” actress and writer Katie Dippold is penning the script, which is — brace yourselves — a “mission movie,” about a group of talking babies trying to make their way across the playground (in 3D, if we’re really lucky).

Parlaying thirty-second commercials into an hour-and-a-half movie is a brilliant idea!  Because, you know, the Geico Cavemen TV series worked out so well.

Candy Kirby is the founder of The Laughing Stork and a professional fun-maker who will never stop chasing her lifelong dream: to find the Pomeranian or porn star after whom her parents must have named her. A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
