Otis The ‘Skydiving Pug’ is Flying High After 64th Jump

Ah, yes, a skydiving pug. If only I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that.  Then I’d have… a dollar.

Although I’m a cat lady, I’ve often thought that if I had a dog, it would be a pug.  Now I realize if I had a dog, it would have to be a skydiving pug.  Because this dog is awesome:  Introducing Otis, a 10-year-old pug who loves to go skydiving.  So much so, the L.A. doggie has been on 64 jumps to date.   Like father, like pug… turns out his dad, Will DaSilva, owns a skydiving company and Otis not only hangs around the office, but jumps out of the planes with Will and other skydivers.

I have no idea if this is cute or cruel — I haven’t had a chance to have a heart-to-heart with Otis — but I prefer to think it’s the former.

Will says:  “He’s totally aware of what’s happening when he free falls and just like a first-time jumper, he gets all excited about it and gets nervous at the door.  Once he’s out, though, he’s just having a ball like a dog with its head out of the car window.”

Will claims that despite the danger of skydiving, it’s the dog’s eating habits that cause the most concern about his health, with his nickname being “Hoover.”

Hey!  That’s Paris Hilton’s nickname, too.  But for an entirely different reason…
