Baby Hat Madness Weekend

The sad news is, my parents left to return to the East Coast today — an emotional parting, made even more gut-wrenching for them as Skye showered ’em with affectionate face caresses and smiles.  The good news is, we will return to your regularly scheduled programming on Monday.  To make up for last week’s spotty posting, I thought I’d brighten your weekend with one of my favorite things in the world (along with margaritas and slimming mirrors):  I am, of course, referring to BABY HATS.

People have started to send in photos of their wee ones in fabulous headwear, much to my delight; it’s only fair that I, in turn, share their fabulousness with you.

In a crazy coincidence, Laughing Stork reader Cowgirl in the Sand happened to order the same bonnet for her adorable daughter that I had bought for Miss Skye.  It goes without saying that Cowgirl has AMAZING taste.  Also…?  This young lady KNOWS she is rocking the bonnet.  And, really, if your mother insists on torturing you with baby hats, you might as well wear them with confidence.  Well-played, young lady.  Well-played, indeed.

It’s about time that you meet Skye’s boyfriend, CJ.  We are good friends and weekly Happy Hour buddies with his daddies, Jon and Chris.  Now, I know what you’re thinking and you’re right:  CJ IS a younger man!  Only 13 weeks old, to be exact.  That Skye — such a cougar.  But who can blame her for going on the prowl?  CJ is totally pimpin’ in his bad-ass newsboy cap and sweater vest, accessorized with just a hint of bubbles.

Speaking of my little cougar…

She is SO over these baby hat photo sessions.  If only she could say the same of her mom.

A humor columnist for Disney, Nickelodeon, Scary Mommy, Reductress and Redbook, she also used to be a staff writer for the soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she penned many scripts featuring prolonged heated stares and countless “Who’s the Daddy?” story lines. Candy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two young kids and three rescue Persian cats, the latter of whom are the real brains behind this operation (so send all complaints to them).
